About
Hi, I'm Kylie Van Grinsven
Founder of TeacherTalk
Welcome to TeacherTalk!
Over the past decade, I've served as a classroom teacher in both the state and private sectors, and as a Senior English External Assessment and NAPLAN marker. Having marked thousands of essays, I've seen first-hand the urgent need for intervention in English.
Teaching students in the current system can be challenging, which is why I’m excited to have the blessing of the powers-that-be to launch TeacherTalk and its suite of English resources.
Starting with the Australian Curriculum Version 9 Glossary Of Literary Devices (GOLD), each resource delivers the curriculum by targeting reading comprehension, vocabulary development and academic writing. All content is fully aligned to the Australian curriculum, ensuring it is current and can be immediately applied to improve classroom results.
I believe it takes a village to raise a child. As learning at school becomes increasingly complex, I've made all resources available to parents as well. By bridging the gap between classroom learning and home support, we can work together to accelerate English achievement for our children.
The program is delivered as a sequence of bite-sized lessons, designed to fit within busy schedules. 20 minutes of targeted intervention per week can make all the difference!
Informed by education theory, students are carefully guided to think critically about the issues they encounter in texts, gather context-specific vocabulary, and use this to express their views with confidence.
Every resource in this English program is custom-designed and streamlined from Foundation (Prep) to Year 12, facilitating the recall of prior learning and building upon past achievements. Students use my trademarked Eng-Code® diagnostic system and year level marking guides to assess their own work, edit for success, and strive for excellence.
Importantly, teachers (and parents) can choose their own texts and apply our lessons to engage their students' interests.
Rather than using mismatched scaffolds, every tool in our program is meticulously curriculum-aligned, ensuring that all work can be measured and celebrated. Regardless of where you start, each resource streamlines learning towards the ultimate goal of success in Year 12.
Thank you for your dedication to supporting your students in English. Comprehension and articulation are essential for success in every subject. Start now to give your students the advantage both in the classroom and in life beyond the gates.
